Fragrances Information

Do I need to wait before using my fragrance?

No, you can wear your fragrance straight away, however for your fragrances to reach their full potential it may take up to 3 months to completely develop. By the time your fragrance reaches you, the maceration process has already been completed on our end before the ethanol/alcohol is even added to the final fragrance formula. What comes next is maturation — the phase where the notes fully settle and integrate with the ethanol/alcohol, and the fragrance gradually reveals its true depth and complexity. Depending on when your bottle was made and how busy we are at the time of your order, this process may already be complete or it may still be underway. Either way, give it up to 3 months of proper storage and your fragrance will be performing at its absolute peak.

How should I store my fragrance? Where to and not to store fragrances?

To preserve the quality of your fragrance, store it in a cool, dry place away from any sunlight, heat, and humidity. Avoid storing your fragrance in the bathroom or car as temperature fluctuations can affect the fragrance over time. A bedroom drawer or wardrobe shelf away from any sun is fine.

What is Maceration/Maturation and what is the difference?

They sound similar and are often mixed up, but they're two different processes. Maceration is the process of blending the raw materials such as essential oils, absolutes, accords and aroma chemicals together before alcohol is added. Maturation is what happens after, once the alcohol is added the fragrance is left to develop and settle over time. The two work together to create a well-rounded, fully developed fragrance. At Sharaf, we handle the maceration process ourselves before we even mix the final perfume oil formula with alcohol, so the hard work is already done by the time it reaches you. As for maturation, depending on when your bottle was made, it may already be fully matured or if it's freshly made, it can take up to three months to fully mature. The fragrance will only get better as it matures.

Are your fragrances Unisex?

Yes, although we offer a range of men's and women's fragrances they are all technically unisex, we just categorise them to help give you an understanding if the fragrance is more masculine, feminine or in the middle. At the end of the day fragrance is deeply personal, wear whatever you love and enjoy and whatever feels like you. All our fragrances are made for everyone to enjoy.

How long do your fragrances last?

Sharaf fragrances are built to last for many hours on skin and some even lasting multiple days on clothes. We state that 8 hours is the average however longevity can vary depending on the fragrance type and notes, skin type, body chemistry, climate, application method and many more factors however we make our fragrances at 40% oil concentration to try keep you stay smelling incredible for as long as possible. That said, longevity varies. For example, fragrances with mostly top notes like bergamot or lemon may fade faster, since top notes are naturally lighter and disappear quicker. Meanwhile, fragrances with more base notes like oud or vanilla may last longer on your skin and clothes as base notes are meant to last the longest. With all that said some fragrances may last a little less or much longer than what we state it all depends on what we mentioned above.
